First up is Michelle Mendoza, who was fall quarter's Staff Member of the Quarter! She was not only super involved, but was also a huge help to everyone on staff.
- Q: What is your favorite PCH memory or favorite thing about PCH?
A: Honestly, there are so many memories that I have of UCLA because of PCH. One of the more memorable moments that I can remember was my first retreat. It was at Big Bear and we rented out this cool looking cabin that had the most ridiculous driveway (it was so steep that parking was a challenge). Anyway, it was my first ever retreat with PCH and I just loved spending time with everyone outside of campus.
- Q: Who’s your favorite superhero?
A: I like Captain America only because of the actor who plays the character in the movies (Chris Evans)!
- Q: If you could become instantly fluent in any one language, what would it be and why?
A: This relates to my New Year resolution. I would love to be fluent in Sambal, my dad's Tagalog dialect, so that I can converse with my family members in their native language.
- Q: Give us one interesting fact about you.
A: I can make lumpia from scratch (not including the wrapper part though) because whenever we had family parties, my aunt would force me to wrap lumpia for hours until I made enough lumpia to her standards.
- Q: What are your post-graduation plans?
A: I am going to apply for the Community Health AmeriCorps program in a few months and that program won't start until later this year. After the program, I will then decide to apply to grad school, possibly Public Health!
- Q: Finally, as a senior here at UCLA, what’s one thing you wish you had known as a freshman?
A: I wished that I knew about my current major beforehand. It would have been beneficial for many students if we had a breakdown of what each major was and different career paths each major entails, especially here at UCLA since there's so many options.
